B.S.U.--College of the Ozarks
Greetings from the Baptist Student Union at College of the Ozarks!
It is an exciting day today! Over three hundred new freshman arrived on campus for their first week of Character Camp, freshman orientation.
You can sense the anticipation and energy on the College of the Ozarks campus, and you can see the looks of excitement and nervousness
on many of the new students.
Megan and I are overwhelmed with gratitude to be a part of these students lives everyday. Living on campus is such a blessing, not only because
of the awesome community here, but because it gives us the opportunity to truly live life with and among the students. This summer has been
fantastic, studying the book of James with our summer-work program students. It has flown by!
Once again, we are gearing up for another semester, and the relationships that we have cultivated are what we look forward to and enjoy most.
The students at C of O are amazing. In the near future, these students are the next leaders of our churches, businesses, schools and government.
The investment in the students at College of the Ozarks is well worth every effort. I recognize now more than ever, we have a unique "sending"
opportunity at this school. While most schools themselves are a mission field, C of O tends to be a place where young Christian leaders grow
as disciples in their respective fields of study, and are then sent out to glorify God in whatever they do. Granted, not every student is a believer,
however, there is a strong understanding among students and faculty here that to whom much has been given, much is required.
This semester we will focus on the Gospel Centered Life. Our small groups will be using this study material as we learn how the Gospel transforms
our lives from the inside-out. Please pray that God raises up students on campus who have a passion for the Gospel of Jesus Christ, who are not
ashamed to shine the light of the Gospel through their deeds and their words and may that be true for all of us, as we seek to be true followers of
Jesus Christ, our Savior.
In Christ,
Jimmy and Megan Cummings
