Children's Camp Report 2010

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11.

This is the verse the children memorized at children's camp for 750 BIG DOG points.  The Sports Crusaders challenged them; it was a lot but they came through.  Children's Camp once again was so good.  Kids learned basketball and soccer techniques as well as learning about Christ and had opportunities to accept him throughout the day as this was shared through their sports and nature.

There were 60 children, 9 sports crusaders, 4 camp team and 4 summer missionaries that had been appointed to serve with us through MO Baptist Convention student ministries.  There were 8 high school and college age students from our association who stepped up to serve as cabin leaders also, along with several adult leaders.  God truly blessed us with cabin leaders, volunteer floaters, nature ladies and great cooks.

There were 10 professions of faith, 4 recommitments and 1 for special ministry service.  We can only praise God for this number.  We have done follow up with all of the children, and workers have taken the lead in following up with their families.

We were blessed to once again have Peter Robillard from FBC Hurley to come and show the campers about physical strength by breaking concrete blocks and ripping phone books.  He shared the love of Christ through this time of ministry.

On Tuesday Jackie Gibbs from Slip Disc Ministries out of Arkansas came to share and teach the children how to use Frisbees in sharing Christ.  The children played in the afternoon learning to throw the Frisbee and how to use the Frisbee goals that we set up around the playing field.  Then he shared Christ in the evening worship and divided the boys & girls up into student led groups to share the Gospel using the Frisbee.  The children each received a Frisbee to take home with them and can share the Gospel with their friends.

Wednesday evening for worship our favorite illusionist, John Hill, shared the Gospel through illusions.  The kids always love Mr. John.

Sports awards were the focus on Thursday evening before the children left the hill to go back home.  Each child receives a special award, sports New Testament, devotion booklet and t-shirt.  Worship was led by the Crusaders.  Kids worship is so exciting at Baptist Hill because it is all about kids in worship.

I want to encourage each church to get excited about children's camp 2011 and see if we can double our numbers.  It is so important that we see children saved as they are our next generation and if you haven't noticed, we need to use different techniques in reaching children in this era.
The Message is still the same but the way we present it looks different.

Thanks for a great year of reaching children at camp!!!
